Not likely, its GSM (AT&T/T-Mobile), and Verizon/Sprint are CDMA technology.

That unlocking site seems extremely sketchy. Odd recommendation here.

Good price indeed, and I agree that unlockscout.com seems sketchy. I tried them recently, had an issue, and haven't heard from them for a week now with any kind of resolution.

Isn't unlocking fully legal now? Why do you need a sketchy site?

Anyone know how good this device is overall, compared to any of the Samsung Galaxy S series or Nexus 5? Like the price, but don't want to get something already hopelessly outdated and/or sluggish.

This device is more than adequate for an average user, to say the least. I love the simplicity of almost stock Android. With that said, I would wait for the 2nd gen moto g with 4G LTE to be released soon, would be an extra 100 bux probably, but also a larger screen and faster processor.
