^ At home depot right now they re $4.99. You can also catch them on sale for $3.99 sometimes. I changed out my whole house. Much brighter than I thought they would be...
I've gotten the Cree bulbds from Home Depot. The only fault I have found with them is that they have a very dark spot at the tip of the bulb. It's not a problem when they are in a lamp or certain fixtures, but can be quite noticeable when the bulb is fully exposed. I recently bought some "LEDARE" 2700K/10W (60 watt equiv) bulbs from IKEA. They are slightly cheaper at $4.50 and do not have the dark spot issue. They are available in frosted and clear varieties. I have not owned them long, so can't really say how they compare otherwise. The Cree bulbs do have a sort of rubberized coating that makes them seem more rugged. The IKEA bulbs do not have this.
I like the Cree myself but never tried the Ikea bulbs. I bought a few of the Philips 60W lamps (second gen) and broke one just trying to get it out of the package. The packaging is the sealed plastic stuff you need scissors to cut open, and the lamp has a thin plastic coating. So trying to wrestle the packaging the lamp fell 1 foot onto the table and the plastic coating broke. The light still works and I used it instead in a desk lamp.
Besides Cree's rubberized coating the packaging is also super easy to open.
